November

We have had a fun month.  The weather is beginning to get a bit cooler (finally), which means it will be frigid next week.  Jacksonville...... burning hot 9 months of the year and the other 3 FREEZING.
Can't complain, we love it!
Harry and Gigi took Kirby over to the north bank to see a ship that has been in town for the month of November.
People live and work on this huge wooden boat year round.
Kirby loved seeing where they slept.
I will be honest, my favorite part of thanksgiving is the fact that so many friends come to town.
I'm not much for turkey, and sweet potatoes.
I do like these kind of turkeys!
 And my cutie God-son.
And a fun play date to the zoo with Brooke and her THREE boys! (all younger than Kirby)
 Anthony, Aiden, and Allen.
Baby Roe and Allen.... born 3 days apart.

I would love to see more of Brooke and these boys.  Kirby and Anthony picked up right where they left off.
I can't believe it's been that long.... we have way to many reasons to go to Atlanta.
Ok Auntie Bedo, Uncle James, Maureen and Brooke........ the Alexanders may be heading your way soon.

Thankful

We are so thankful for our families this Thanksgiving.  We had a wonderful day yesterday beginning bright and early at Uncle John and Anne's house for Thanksgiving breakfast.
The food was Delicious but the time these kiddos got to spend together playing was priceless.

I want to steal this little beauty.
 so sweet.
The three of them couldn't keep their hands off each other especially Roe and Margaret.  Roe would pat her head and give her sweet gentle hugs and kisses it was so adorable.
Roe and Kirby gave Tucker plenty of excersixe.
I don't know how she has time to do this sort of thing...
OK, besides working from home, and the full time job of raising little M, Anne can some-how manage to host Thanksgiving breakfast for 8.... Thanksgiving Lunch for 10, a cook out the day after for the Alabama/ Auburn game, and this absolutely beautiful table!!!!!
You go Girl!

All I had to do was get dressed, oh and i still couldn't find the time to get any pictures of Thanksgiving part 2.
Sorry folks. it was a wonderful time with Ted's family.
Great food, great company and a very sweet time.
Kirby found the big cousins LEGOS and was in heaven,  Roe spent the afternoon chasing a (very patient) cat around the house.
Thank you John and Angie for hosting such a fun and yummy Thanksgiving dinner.

Happy Thanksgiving

Sunday Kirby and Baba had a very fun filled afternoon with a special lunch, icecream from the dreamette, a visit to the Ortega United Methodist playground, and this adorable craft.
Isn't it cute!  I love it and it looks so cute on my sideboard.  Kirby keeps asking me "mom do you like the turkey that me and Baba made you?"  He's so proud of his craft.

BAD :(

So you want to hear how the 18mo. appt went?
The appointment that i have been so hopeful about?
With the new Doctor that i was so sure was going to have all the answers and solve all our problems?
In a word:
BAD
I think it is time to shop around for a new pediatrician.
OK, so the doctor was given Roe's chart 3 months ago and was asked to look over it and be familiar with what has been going on with our little guy, in the hopes that she would be able to give us some direction.
(please take note that she was given his chart, not by my request, but by request of another Doctor)
It is my opinion after our appointment that not only did she not review the chart in any way.... she also didn't feel the need to even look at it as we sat there talking about everything that is happening.
I could be wrong, but suggesting that we add BUTTER and SOUR CREAM to his diet does not sound like someone who has reviewed our chart in any way.
So, i am becoming more and more convinced that:
1. This is why people say that Dr.'s are "practicing medicine" because even though we are looking to them to solve all our problems, they don't always have all the answers.
2. So far "Team Alexander" is doing a WAY better job at figuring out what is wrong with Roe than any doctors have done.
3. We get by with a little help from our friends...... OK so after this "setback" i still feel a peace that we are figuring things out, and that i owe entirely to YOU.
Thank you for your constant prayers, advice, and just the way that each of you lifts us up daily.

Next step Nemours Nov 29th. We will get answers there, and i will keep you updated.

Fall......

has officially made it's way to Jacksonville.
As i write this it's a balmy 77* outside and not a cloud in the sky.
Ok so yesterday it was chilly(ish), we're getting there. I joke about it now and I know in a month I will be whining about it.
Especially since I took a look at my winter wardrobe and it looks the exact same as it did 10 years ago, minus a few pairs of corduroys.... time for this lady to find herself a J-O-B.
In the meantime i can find a few ways to keep myself busy. Saturday was the fall festival at Kirby's school, since i am the room mom i am responsible for the grade level game.... some how the nice ladies from last year some how managed to loose the preKII ring-toss game so i made a fishing thing for our grade instead.

The kids loved taking turns sitting inside and hooking the goodies on the fishing lines.
Saturday we took a day trip to Gainesville, by way of Lake City.
We all loved visiting with Mable.
Next stop Devils Millhopper in Gainesville.
Like 1million steps
Monday afternoon we met Jacob, Mary and Baby Elizabeth at the playground.

We had a surprise visit from Jim on his motorcycle.

Trick or treat

We had a real fun and eventful Halloween weekend. Friday night we went to a FL/GA themed Oyster Roast.
The Boys had a great time running around and playing with their friends, and Ted and I had a great time with our friends, having some adult conversation.... and a few adult beverages.
We were finally able to make a trip to the pumpkin patch.
It was slim pickings two days before Halloween but we were able to find a kinda warty one for $5.oo
We had to do a wardrobe change at the pumpkin Patch for two reasons.....
1. Kirby's outfit was a little to cumbersome to wear in the car
and
2. we ran into a friend at the pumpkin patch and Kirby wouldn't exit the car in his costume???
um... i guess he was embarrassed?
hahaha
Warty pumpkin

We met up with Cousin Margaret before heading our separate ways to Trick or Treat
First stop: Baba's House
Next Stop: Gigi and Pops
Roe with his friend Brody
And Finally Home!
On another note, i would like to fill in anyone who reads our blog on what is happening around here specifically with Roe,
We have been from Dr. to Dr. for the past 6 months, as you all know he was diagnosed with severe food allergies to Milk, soy and eggs.
This was happy news to us because we finally felt like we had a handle on what was going on with him and were able to do whatever it takes to get him better. However, it seems over the last 6 months things have not gotten better.
He has constant diarrhea, like 4-5 icky diapers daily, he drinks probably a gallon of liquids each day and has the wet diapers to match. He has what we believe to be headaches.
He was loosing weight for a time, but now we are back on the plus side, although still below the charts and less that we were at our 15 mo. appt.
Saturday when Ted was at the football game he began to struggle with his breathing.
Not gasping for air but definitely struggling, i decided to drive him to the fire station and have them take a look. Everything checked out fine but they were stumped at the very strange noise he was making with each breath.
It happened again last night and Ted and I deliberated taking him to the ER.
I was able to get him into the Dr. early this morning.
THANKS TO MY GOOD FRIEND LEAH, who works at the Dr's and has been helping us try and sort all of this out.
There are still a lot of unanswered questions but the good news is that we have an appointment at Nemours to go to a GI specialist.
baby steps
I have debated sharing this information, not knowing if it is to much info or if we should keep it private until we know more, but here's my thought.
Some of these symptoms may sound familiar to you and you may be able to point us in a direction we weren't thinking.
But mostly this is a call for prayer. Please lift up Roe in your prayers.
I KNOW that prayer works and whether the prayer is for healing, for God's will or for wisdom and knowledge for the Dr's that see him.
We will take it!
Thank you

A Busy Month

This month has been super busy. Aside from the expected events like football games, trick or treating, and Ted and I celebrating our 8th year of marriage, we have been non stop........ and it seems to be the norm over here that SOMEONE is always sick.
Kirby's class took their first field trip. They rode the school bus to Fire station 10.
I don't know what they liked more, the fire station or the school bus.

Roe continues to love school. He is off and on, as far as his attendance goes. We are still struggling to figure out this little guy. I look forward to taking him to a new doctor this week to talk about some of our concerns. Please keep Roe in your prayers.
Teddy was in a wedding at the beginning of the month. These are some cute pics that I *stole* from Marie Star photography.
Is it still stealing if I give her the credit? I like to think of it as free advertising. :)

Oh and we can't forget that this cutie was born!
Elizabeth Hodson Moore
Born Oct 25th

100% adorable

And i am loving playing with my new camera
